Inaugural Field Day

The first field day of the recently formed Owhango Beekeepers Club was held on Saturday 8th September at our Club Hive location in Onematua Road, Owhango. The weather was not that great, a few passing showers but we had a good turnout for our first field day.

We opened up our hive as well as the second hive that was in the same Apiary, and examined them both and cleaned off propolis and general housekeeping within the hive. One of the hives had experienced some rain water entering the hive so we cleaned things up and made the hive a bit more weather proof. About 10 of our members turned up for our first field day.

We went from there around to one of our members places to inspect their hive and then had a general round table discussion which brought our first field day to a close.

Thanks to all our members..
