Meetings

During the bee season, generally September through to March we endeavour to have an evening meeting at least once per month in our local community hall. We have settled on the 2nd Tuesday in each month at 7:30pm and use the time to review:

  • the progress with our club hive
  • training on hive maintenance
  • discussion on any member topics
  • aim to invite a guest speaker once every two months

We also plan to have at least one field day per month on our club hive and undertake general maintenance that is required at the time. Managing a beehive is very methodical and there are certain maintenance activities you need to do at the start of any season, during the season and at the end of the season as we ramp down production and bed the hive down for the winter months.

We also plan to spend a field day from time to time at one of our members homes,  reviewing their hive as a club and helping each other learn more about beekeeping.
